DENG Yu, male, born in 1963, Doctor of Science, Professor, Deputy Director General of Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. He is Director of Key Laboratory of Development and Application of Rural Renewable Energy, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and got his PhD degree at Sichuan University in 2016. DENG Yu is also the member of the Department of Microbial Resource and the Department of Environmental Microbiology of Chinese Society for Microbiology and the member of the International Water Association (IWA). DENG Yu was awarded as the Outstanding Mid-Aged Expert of the Ministry of Agriculture in 1999 and the Outstanding Agricultural Scientist in China in 2011.

DENG Yu, who engaged in anaerobic microorganisms, efficient bioconversion technology and biogas technology research work, has made remarkable achievements in anaerobic metabolism regulation and agricultural waste resource utilization and also in charge of several projects of national, ministerial and provinciallevel. DENG Yu has established evaluation technology in terms of the separation and function of anaerobic microorganismsresources, which broken through a  bottleneck of isolated culturing of anaerobic microorganisms, realized a high-throughput and functional assessment of fermentative microorganisms and made a major breakthrough in collecting methanogenic bacteria resources. At present, a national scaled and distinctive anaerobic microorganisms strains library led by Mr. DENG has been built, helping to gain several anaerobic microorganisms with special physiological properties. He and his team invented the  building technical skills for anaerobic microbial complex, developed the pilot production process of anaerobic microbial complex and overcame the problems of large-scaled fermentation for anaerobic microorganisms, realizing the harmonically and largely proliferation of them, as well as developed strengthening technology of anaerobic microorganisms and compound bacteria for biogas fermentation, breaking through the existing bottleneck of normaly producing biogas in winter. Meanwhile the research on the aspects of microbial enhanced oil recovery, biogas genetic mechanism, hydrocarbon microorganisms, environmental microbial agents and so on were carried out and gained relative achievements. Deng Yu has won a State-class Technology Progress 3^rd Award, a Provincial-class Technology Progress 1^st Award, a Provincial-class Technology Progress 2^nd Award, and gained a 2^nd Award, a 3^rd Award of Technology Progress from Ministry of Agriculture as well as a Technology Progress 2^nd Award from Chengdu government with more than 60 papers, 8 invention patents and 13 graduate students.
