Cuban Delegation Visits BIOMA for Thematic Dialogue on Green and Low-Carbon Development Cooperation
Recently, a delegation of Cuban participants attending the Training Program on Resilient Development and Low-Carbon Emissions in the Fields of Energy, Agri-food Systems and Waste Management visited the Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (BIOMA) for a thematic exchange with institute researchers. The two sides held in-depth discussions on green energy and carbon management, focusing on key areas including agricultural waste valorization, biomass energy development, ecological and environmental protection, and the establishment of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality policy frameworks, jointly exploring new pathways for China–Cuba cooperation in green and low-carbon development.

During the discussion session, researchers from BIOMA’s Policy Research Team systematically introduced the institute’s research layout, core technological achievements, and international cooperation experience in circular economy, green energy, and ecological governance. They also highlighted the platform support and technical services that BIOMA can provide for international collaboration, supported by relevant funding programs.

The Cuban participants shared their national needs in energy transition and green development, and engaged in in-depth discussions with Chinese researchers on topics such as efficient utilization of agricultural biomass, practical application of low-carbon technologies, and policy framework development for environmental industries. Both sides exchanged views on feasible cooperation models and technology adaptability. The Cuban delegation expressed hope to leverage BIOMA’s scientific and technological strengths to promote practical cooperation in joint research on low-carbon technologies, co-construction of green demonstration projects, policy dialogue, and joint training of technical professionals.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited BIOMA’s laboratory for energy utilization of livestock and poultry waste, where they gained detailed insights into the latest research achievements and application scenarios in biomass conversion and carbon emission reduction technologies. They spoke highly of BIOMA’s research capabilities and technological strength.
The exchange effectively aligned cooperation needs between China and Cuba in the field of green and low-carbon development, laying a solid foundation for future regular academic exchanges, technology transfer, and international collaborative projects.
