Academician Kang Shaozhong Visits BIOMA
On June 12, Kang Shaozhong, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at China Agricultural University, visited the Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (BIOMA) for a research visit.

During the visit, Academician Kang toured the laboratories of BIOMA's Chengdu Center Campus, including the Innovative Team of Biomass Thermochemical Conversion and New Energy Integration, the Innovative Team for High-Quality Biofuels, and the Innovative Team of Biomaterials Quality and Safety Risk Assessment. He also visited the laboratories at the Renmin South Road Campus, including the Innovative Team of Anaerobic Microbiology, the Innovative Team of Energy Utilization and Pollution Control of Livestock and Poultry Waste, and the Innovative Team of Microbial Synthetic Biology and Biomanufacturing. In addition, he learned about BIOMA's international technical assistance and training programs before attending a symposium with institute staff.

At the symposium, BIOMA Director General Meng Haibo extended a warm welcome to Academician Kang. Representatives from the Institute Office introduced BIOMA's overall development and highlighted its major achievements in scientific and technological innovation, industry services, and international cooperation.
Academician Kang highly commended BIOMA's accomplishments in fundamental research, platform development, standards formulation, and technology demonstration. He encouraged the institute to align its development with the goals of the 15th Five-Year Plan period by building on its strengths in biogas research, further clarifying its strategic positioning, expanding its disciplinary scope and research directions, strengthening research teams and the cultivation of young scientific leaders, and enhancing its influence within the industry. He also suggested increasing the promotion and application of biogas slurry as fertilizer in the arid regions of northern China.
The symposium was attended by Meng Haibo, He Mingxiong, and representatives from the Institute Office, Personnel Department, the Innovative Team of Rural Habitat Pollution Control, and the Innovative Team of Energy Utilization and Pollution Control of Livestock and Poultry Waste.
