Global Development Initiative Takes Root in Bolivia: Biogas Circular Agriculture Project of BIOMA Highlighted in Signed Article by Chinese Ambassador to Bolivia
Recently, the Chinese Ambassador to Bolivia Wang Liang published a signed article in Bolivia’s mainstream newspaper El Deber, focusing on the Global Development Initiative and international development cooperation, and introducing the positive progress achieved in China-Bolivia cooperation. Among the highlights was the second-phase small grant project under the Global South-South Development Center implemented by BIOMA: the “Capacity-Building Project for Rural Biogas Circular Agriculture in Porongo, Santa Cruz, Bolivia.”

The article pointed out that there is broad space for cooperation between China and Bolivia. Building on the friendly cooperative relations between Santa Cruz in Bolivia and Sichuan Province in China, as well as between Santa Cruz City and Chengdu, BIOMA has carried out practical biogas technology cooperation with institutions such as the Engineers’ Association of Santa Cruz (S.I.B.SCZ) and the Private Technical University of Santa Cruz (UTEPSA). Chinese technical experts traveled to Santa Cruz to conduct on-site training in practical biogas technologies for faculty and students from local universities, technical personnel, and agricultural producers in Porongo, thereby promoting the application of biogas technology in local rural production.
The fact that this rural biogas circular agriculture project was featured in a signed article by the Chinese Ambassador to Bolivia and published in a local mainstream media outlet is a positive achievement of BIOMA’s efforts to deepen international scientific and technological cooperation with Bolivia in the fields of agriculture and rural development, and to promote the “going global” of rural biogas technology and circular agriculture models. In the next step, BIOMA will continue to leverage international cooperation platforms, align with the actual development needs of agriculture and rural areas in Bolivia, deepen technical exchanges and demonstration cooperation in biogas, biomass energy, and circular agriculture, and contribute scientific and technological strength to promoting green agriculture and sustainable rural development in China and Bolivia.
