“Belt and Road Initiative”for a Better Life – BIOMA’s Foreign Aid training participants visit the Southwest Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute of China

On October 19, participants of the “Training Course on Rural Wastewater Treatment Technology for Developing Countries” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and organized by Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural AffairsBIOMAvisited the Southwest Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute of China (SMEDRIC) to have a discussion and make exchanges with company leaders and experts on the experience and methods of rural sewage treatment. Twenty-one government officials, experts, scholars and business representatives from five developing countries, including Zambia, Kenya, Cuba, Laos and Mongolia, attended the meeting.

Que Tianjin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and deputy general manager of SMEDRIC, introduced the history, development overview, main business and innovation achievements of SMEDRIC. Relevant people in charge of the company introduced different kinds of typical design projects and EPC major projects undertaken by the company at home and abroad, and shared the typical projects and leading technologies of rural sewage treatment and key ideas of rural sewage treatment. The participants and experts of the training course conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on issues such as village sewage treatment technology, sustainable operation, resource utilization and personnel training.

After the meeting, the participants visited the ecological water environment comprehensive treatment project of Chengdu Science City in the Tianfu New Area. This training course is the 169th foreign aid training program sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by BIOMA since 1979.
