Director-General Wang Dengshan visits the National Institute of Agricultural Technology of Argentina
In order to implement the Strategic Action Plan on Agricultural Cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries of the Argentine Republic and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China (2022-2027) and promote the construction of the China-Argentina Biogas Development and Cooperation Center and the implementation of related tasks, at the invitation of President Garmendia of the National Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Technology of Argentina, Director-General Wang Dengshan led a delegation to visit Argentina from October 30 to November 8, 2023. Delegation members also include Liu Yi, Director of the Research Management Office, Long Yan, researcher of the Strategy and Policy on Rural Biomass Energy and Living Environments Development, and Pan Ke, senior engineer of the innovation team of Pollution Treatment of Rural Living Environments.
While in Argentina, the Institute and the Argentine National Institute of Agricultural Technology jointly organized the "IV Symposium on Agricultural and Agro-industrial Waste" in Mendoza. Director-General Wang Dengshan made a keynote speech at the meeting, introduced the scientific research progress of BIOMA, the current situation of China-Argentina biogas cooperation, and expressed expectations for deepening the agricultural science and technology cooperation between China and Argentina with the link of biogas, which aroused strong responses from the Argentina participants.
Before and after the meeting, at the request of the Argentine side, the delegation held two training sessions on biogas fermentation technology and construction of constructed wetlands for local scientific research and technology extension personnel in Buenos Aires and Mendoza, and visited the Mendoza Agricultural Technology Demonstration Park of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology of Argentina, the municipal waste treatment plant, and the biogas composting experiment of pig manure in progress. They also discussed ways to promote China-Argentina biogas cooperation with Dr. Guo Xiaoyu, Agricultural officer of the Chinese Embassy in Argentina.
Through this visit to Argentina, BIOMA has enhanced the friendship with the previous Argentina participants of the training courses held in China by BIOMA, promoted the mutual understanding of scientific research progress and industry dynamics between the two sides, and defined the direction of future cooperation. The two sides will continue to be demand-oriented, carry out relevant technological adaptation research and promotion, and promote green and low-carbon agricultural development through practical cooperation.
