BIOMA Holds Seminar on Biogas Industry Promotion and Management for Developing Countries

 

On April 7, the Seminar on Biogas Industry Promotion and Management for Developing Countries 2017 opened in Chengdu. It was sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of China, and organized by BIOMA. Senior officials including TianShuguang, director at the Special Commissioner’s Office of MOFCOM in Chengdu, Yang Xiu, division director of the Department of International Cooperation of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Hu Guoquan, Deputy Director General of BIOMA were present at the opening ceremony.

Mr. Tian said that seminar on biogas is one of the many foreign aid training programs sponsored by Chinesegovernment. He highly praised the experience and achievements of BIOMA on holding this kind of seminars. He also hoped that this seminar could strengthen the friendship between China and other developing countries and broaden the opportunities for future cooperation.

Mr. Yang Xiu said that BIOMA is the state-level institute agricultural science with world leading level on biogas R&D and promotion in China. He hoped that the participants could cherish this opportunity and study China’s biogas experience and technologies carefully. Mr. Yang also said that the Department of International Cooperation of CAAS would provide all possible support for this seminar.

Deputy Director General of BIOMA Hu Guoquan extended warm welcome to all students. He said that BIOMA has more than 30 years’ experience on biogas R&D since its establishment and obtained valuable experience on technical research, equipment R&D, household as well as large and medium-scale biogas plants; BIOMA hoped to share its experience and technologies with every participant. He also said that BIOMA has made thoughtful arrangements for this seminar

Mr. Robert Bright from Ghana expressed his appreciation to China for the opportunity to learn Biogas technology and management. He said that energy shortage had been a major problem for developing countries and the top priority was to actively develop renewable energies like biogas. 

57 participants from 12 countries including Palestine, Ghana and Mongolia attended this seminar. This course lasts for 21 days.
