2014 Training Course on Rural Energy under South-South Cooperation

 

October 10,2014jointly sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture(MOA) and the United Nations Food andAgriculture Organization(FAO), organized by the Center of International Cooperation Service, MOA, co-organized by the Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture (BIOMA), the opening ceremony of “2014 Training Course on Rural Energy under South-South Cooperation” was held in Chengdu. Luo Ming, director of department of International Cooperation, MOA, JiWenyuan, deputy director ofCenter of International Cooperation Service, MOA, the director Yu Yang and Li Qian, director general of BIOMA attended this ceremony.

Hosted by JiWenyuan, the director Luo Ming firstly introduced the cooperation background and development between China and FAO, hoping this training course could promote the exchanges and cooperation between the countries participating in the rural energy technologies under the South-South Cooperation framework supported by MOA. Li Qian, on behalf of BIOMA, warmly welcomed the participants and made a brief introduction of BIOMA, expressing the willingness of making common progress through the training courses and knowledge sharing among trainees.

The training, since October 9, 2014 to October 25, 2014, totally 19 participants from 6 countries as Cambodia, Indonesia, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana, Costa Rica attended the training with duration of 17 days. The experts from BIOMA and FAO taught together in this training course. The contents included ”Biogas Development in China”, “Design and Construction of Rural Household Biogas Digesters”, “Process Design of Large and Medium Size Biogas Plants”, “Energy and Food Saving Program”, “Fishery Energy” and so on with various forms as lecture, practice and visit tour.

In September this year, the BIOMA was authorized by the FAO as the UN Food and Agriculture (FAO) reference center, this training is the first task of BIOMA as a FAO reference center for biogas research and training.
